This is going to be an amazing roundtable on how we are Actually Shifting Practice using badges for Professional Learning. This is a follow up to our previous roundtable on Badges for Learning (http://bit.ly/badgesroundtable).
Roundtable purpose:
This roundtable will help to identify the ways in which we can use Outcome-based Badges (rather than badging for seat-time) to shift practice for teachers and leaders.
Roundtable audience:
Teachers and Leaders who are looking to create and/or use a badging system within professional learning environments
Organizations who are looking to help teachers and leaders to create micro-credentials for professional learning
Essential Questions:
How do we eliminate badges for seat-time?
What are the tools to implement badges for professional learning?
What are the models for professional learning that are best supported by badges?
What does the “back of the badge” look like for adult learners?
How does self-reflection become a part of a badging system?

I will be sending out the invitation to join the hangout about 30 minutes before the hangout starts.
I will be sending out the invitation to join the hangout about 30 minutes before the hangout starts. If you can join early and troubleshoot any technical issues, that’s great. If not, I’ll see you when the hangout starts!
Remember, the planning document is still the best place to keep track of the conversation before, during and after the hangout: http://bit.ly/shiftroundtable

Are We Making Upside Down Investments In Education?
In this podcast episode I think through whether or not we are making upside down investments in develop curriculum and people within our schools and districts.
Just like if you are upside down in your house, you are paying more than it is worth, are we paying more than our curricular resources and own understanding of professional development can provide?
The #sxswedu Twitter Archive (for your data mining pleasure)
I am a huge fan of learning from others, and I think one of the best ways to learn from #sxswedu is to look through all of the tweets. Unfortunately, they go by too fast to glean much of anything out of them other than people seem to be having a good time.
So, I created a twitter archive for every tweet using the #sxswedu hashtag. Once an hour, it pulls in new tweets and displays them in a summary, a dashboard, and in their raw form.
Here is the link to the archive: http://bit.ly/sxsweduarchive
Feel free to use these tweets however you see fit, but please share what you do with them, as I would love to see what uses others make of this data.
Also, if you want to create your own twitter archives, here are the instructions and template doc. However, if you want to create an archive as large as #sxswedu, you will need to import the scripts and the spreadsheet into “new sheets.”
