Learning is Change

What I'm Learning: Consulting startups on the use of Google Glass in Schools already exist.

I’m intrigued by the idea that these kinds of consulting startups, and practitioner blogs are already at this level. Definitely one to watch.

About | EduGlasses

EduGlasses is a start-up that is part of the education technology market.  This segment is the fastest growing in the education market because it is seen by districts as the best way to incorporate personalized student learning, accomplish differentiated instruction, handle growing classroom sizes, increase district accountability, and enhance teacher effectiveness. Our mission is to provide applications and services for administrators, teachers, and students through the use of smart glasses (e.g. Google Glass).  This next generation technology allows for the control, collection, and distribution of information faster and easier for the user.  The EduGlasses goal is to ensure the content and pedagogy is in place when the technology enters the marketplace rather than lag as many other technologies have when first entering the education technology market.

Any Learning Happening In The 21St-Century IS 21St-Century Learning.

In this episode I talk through the implications of 21st-century learning.

This week I realize that any learning that happens in the 21st-century is 21st-century learning. We should not be disparaging one another’s learning. We should come up with better words and better ideas for what we mean when we say we want students to have access to modern tools and pedagogy.

What should we call the artist formerly known as 21st-century learning?

What I'm Using: Text Help Skills – The Google Docs Add-On

I really like the idea of collecting highlights into a separate document. I could see a lot of uses for this in curating great ideas from a document into your own space.

Texthelp Study Skills – Google Docs add-on

Use Texthelp’s Highlighting Tools to highlight key areas of your document to collect, group, and learn from later. Simply select and highlight the desired text and click “Collect Highlights” to extract it and place it in a new document (by color or location) for students or educators to review.

We have an opportunity for a number of us  to be a part of the Classroom Video Challenge, which was launched by the Gates Foundation recently.

This is going to be an ongoing initiative that we can help support with our video work, but for the moment, we are looking to identify 1 teacher and 1 support partner (coach, principal, etc.) to go to a convening in San Fran on Aug 2nd and to help push the thinking of this group.

Would you take a look at this PDF and let me know if you are interested in the next couple of days, as we need to get our names in to take part. I think this is heavily aligned to our project, but we don’t all need to take part.

I’m so excited to work with you all. Thank you so much for your collaboration. Over 250 ratings thus far on your proposals!
