How do you balance planning for learning and learning itself?
In this carcast I expand a conversation that +Jessica Raleigh and I started a couple of days ago about how we plan for learning experiences. I ask the question here of what is the right balance between lesson/experience/template/resource planning and the "event" of learning itself. What is your right balance? Also, is it possible to do one without the other and still be a teacher and learner?

Alright, so I want an app/website that lets me add comment threads at timestamps on a video.
Alright, so I want an app/website that lets me add comment threads at timestamps on a video. I see that there are a few things that exist, but they are all “enterprise” software. Does this exist for education or novice users?
Edthena is pretty close, but I’m really looking for something more light weight: http://www.edthena.com/

Welcome to GEG Colorado!
Welcome to GEG Colorado!
This space is still in the very early stages of existing and of being something transformative for all of the teachers and leaders who take part in it. But, with your help, it will provide support and ideas to thousands.
Now that you are here, won’t you introduce yourself and share the best place near you to host the GEG? It can be anywhere from a coffee shop to a convention space. More than anything, these spaces will tell us something about you and what you want the GEG to be.
I’ll start.
I am the Director of Personalized Professional Learning for Denver Public Schools. I am passionate about Online Communities, Reflective Practice (through video and video conferencing are my favorite ways), and making at least one new thing every day.
The place that I would like to hold the GEG is Westlands Park. It has some wonderful pavilion spaces and a playground and treehouse for big and little kids alike. I would love to see what a GEG could be like outside.

Hi Ben, I see that you are a moderator for the New Educators DPS group. I am just beginning my teaching career and starting to feel overwhelmed. My desire is to leverage as many resources as possible. I am coming from 8 years in a corporate position and now I will be a HS business teacher at South! I feel like I just landed my dream job, but at the same time I am not fully abreast as to what I am in for. Let me know if you have any pointers for my first week and year, or any specific resources that I should tap into.
Thanks!

(I also live in Littleton, so maybe we could meet up for a coffee sometime)
What I'm Learning: You can make any physical object better with a little Sugru.
I really love that this type of a product exists. I want all of the maker/hacker spaces to get lots of this stuff and let children and adults make the world around them more durable and useful. I feel a series of Donor’s choose initiatives coming on.
FIX THAT THING. – the future needs fixing – sugru
What if you could fix, modify or make almost anything? That’s why we invented sugru. Apply it, shape it and watch it transform into a tough and flexible rubber overnight. More than 500,000 people in 155 countries later, sugru is turning into a movement! Watch the video!
