Learning is Change

I am free.

I don’t want to be in Education. I want to be a Teacher.

I don’t want to be a manager. I want to be a creator.

I don’t want to have meetings. I want to make meaning.

I don’t want to be a director. I want to be a designer.

I took a new job today. And as with the last one, I have new hopes and dreams for what it will be. The biggest difference this time, is that I had a choice. I could have taken the one in Education that really would be supported by all I have built up until this point. But, I don’t want to continue with what I know. I want to start over. All over.

I want to rebuild my network from the foundation to the gargoyles and take what I have learned and not allow myself to slip back into old habits. I want to take the respect that I have earned and become something that others don’t expect. I want to grow.

And I’m taking you with me. If you have enjoyed reading about tools and learning. If you have enjoyed thinking through my questions, they are all coming with me. But this time I won’t contend with upending a system. I will create change because it leaves me breathless in connection with others.

I am a Learning Experience Designer. I will own it and all of the things that come with it. Just watch me.

So, I am making a go of giving Firefox one more try while the new version of Chrome is getting formulated for Lion (or at least one that doesn’t eat memory for breakfast). I’ve got most of my plugins working on Firefox 6 beta thanks to the ability to turn off the compatibility checker.

The one thing that I don’t have is a good Google+ plugin. Does one actually exist?

This.

This.

So, while I could never get into Evernote, I am now going to give Simplenote, Syncpad (chrome Extension) and Notational Velocity a shot for all of my note taking needs. I like how lightweight all of this is.
