  1. At a recent district wide PD day I created 2 social media assignments for teachers to complete throughout the day (reflections and sharing). They had two weeks to get their Google+ or Twitter accounts set up. I provided a help sheet and tutorials. One teacher came to my office a few days before and asked when she could attend a training so she could be shown how to use these social media tools. She felt if the district was going to require teachers to use these tools we had to show them how. This blows my mind.

  5. Oh, I hear this a lot. Not the term professional development of course, because students don’t talk like that unless they’re in teacher ed, but even our stereotypical “digital natives” often don’t know how to use tech in service of an academic goal or objective.
