My favorite conversation so far within the #etmooc  community has been with Sheri Edwards around making meaning from the mooc. This video is my reaction to her comments, which she has since expanded upon (see the post she just popped in here). Anyway, I thought it might be useful to a wider audience.

  1. Ben, Your first few words (to1:52) lifted a weight off my shoulders, and I smiled. Whew. I’m not alone. Thanks.

Exactly — finding people who resonate, to connect with, and spin off an idea into something new. This is one of the reasons I joined the #etmooc — to build my PLN with other middle school language arts teachers, and develop that “hub” so my classroom can be an incubator for innovation and engagement that is moving education forward.

Thanks for taking the time to help me clarify how the #etmooc works, and how to develop a hub for engagement and reflection. I’ll look into Storify, PearlTrees, and IFTTT to help me organize and curate. I hope our conversation helps others.

  4. Love the forces of synergising change that you identify here, Ben; makes for compelling viewing! Also I’m intrigued by the Vialogue form which is framed by Sheri’s intro then intercut/ pollinated with Rodd’s riff on spokes. I am seeing not just the interconnected nature of this public conversation (tightrope act right there!), but a growing sense of understanding about what we do as learners engineering learning with others. Powerful.

On the synergy point, my paper on curriculum innovation can be accessed here: http://toleranceforambiguity.wordpress.com/2012/10/06/guide-to-curriculum-innovation-cultivating-synergy/

  7. Hi Benjamin Wilkoff Is this the “idea” that Ary Aranguiz  chatted about today?  We are not an “exclusive” group, but rather a group that has found each other through cyberspace.  We participated in a hangout last week, which was a wonderful experience.  As soon as we put our heads together, we’ll contact you.  Or you can contact us and we’ll pass it along.  We are juggling time zones (UK/Australia and EST.)  I assume that you are still in the Denver area?  Vlogging might be the next, interesting step to take?

  10. Absolutely an interesting step. I am game to hangout any time you are, but I love the asynchronous nature of vlogging. I am uploading a video now that I would love to have a quad (or more) react to. My hope is that I get to react to your videos in short order as well. Talk to you in a few.
