Learning is Change

I originally wrote this as a comment on Jessica Raleigh’s post, but I wanted it to exist on its own as well.

I originally wrote this as a comment on Jessica Raleigh’s post, but I wanted it to exist on its own as well. Thank you, Jess, for asking me to reflect this morning.

My original reason for going into education was so that I could teach the books that I loved in middle school and high school for the rest of my life.

That very quickly gave way to wanting to learn from and with the most passionate individuals in the world: students and teachers.

I stay in education because I believe that learning is the meaning of life. That may sound hyperbolic, but I believe it wholeheartedly. True learning and growth is the thread that ties us all together, and it is the only thing that provides opportunity and success.

Some people teach for college and career readiness. I teach so that I can be ready to learn and so that other people can have the skills they will need in order to teach me.

Learning is the thing that I love, and I will follow it wherever it takes me.

What I'm Using: Tracking Gmail messages with Google Analytics to see who has read them.

I really like this hack a lot, especially because it works with all of the things I am already using. Also, it is 100% free.

How to Track Gmail Messages with Google Analytics

Google Analytics is often used for tracking visits to web pages and mobile apps but did you know that Google’s Analytics service can also be used for tracking your outgoing email messages in Gmail. You can add the Google Analytics tracking code to your Gmail messages and you’ll instantly know if your email message has been seen or opened by the recipient.

I’m so excited to see everyone next week, but I thought this was really amazing and I had to share it.

I’m so excited to see everyone next week, but I thought this was really amazing and I had to share it. I know that we had been talking about doing video tours of our classroom, but I really like this concept of a 360° exploration of your classroom.

I would love to see any photospheres that this community creates.

What I'm Using: LinkRedirector for sending folks to different link destinations based upon the device they are using.

Alright, so this might be a very specific use case, but I often need to send folks to different places if they are on an iPad vs. a Laptop. So, with this I can give folks the same link but take them to the different places I need them to go on the web based upon their device. I find that incredibly cool.

A free url shortener | Linkredirector

Send visitors to different destinations With our free url shortener you can add multiple destinations to your short links and define who should be redirected where. Simply select the segments you wish to affect, like device model, device vendor, operating system, browser, country, display size and returning/new visitors.
