When are Constraints on Learning a Good Thing? #rhisomaticlearning #etmooc
I would love to develop a list of creative, generative constraints for learning. Please comment to add your ideas to this list.

Sheri Edwards is too busy making amazing comments on other people’s videos, but here is the one she posted last night. Go ahead and give her some feedback!
I believe for us to transform the ways in which we teach and learn, we cannot be self-conscious about the ways in which we express that learning. Dew2Circumstances has some advice for first time vloggers and creators, that I think is essential: Own the four walls of your videos. You can be and do whatever you want within them.

Stop Aggregating Content, and Start Aggregating Conversation #edchat
As good as we have gotten at aggregating all of our content into readers and websites (portals and hubs), we still have a terrible time aggregating conversation and comments. I think we need to fix this.
Here are some promising starts:

I had an idea last night:
What if #etmooc had mentors? What if those mentors were responsible for curating a path through the mooc by selecting posts that told a particular story? What if there was a Middle School mentor that took posts and comments from around the “etmoocasphere” that supported and helped middle school teachers? They wouldn’t have to only be from middle school teachers, but rather providing an approach that not only filters out noise, but also teaches participants to filter for themselves. Since everyone’s #etmooc experience is radically different, why not provide multiple paths through it?
Just a thought, but I spoke more about it in this video. What do you think?
Because of Phil Macoun’s video (below), I was finally able to get my head around what Darren Kuropatwa was already trying to tell me a week ago. Clearly, there has to be a balance between learner responsibility and teacher curation. My hope is that I have found that balance in this conversation.
One of the best parts about learning in a community, is when you let the community affect your understanding. I let Phill Macoun and Darren Kuropatwa help my understanding of the role of the teacher in a MOOC and other connected learning environments. The result was to suggest that we allow 5 curators to create paths for us through ETMOOC. They could act as mentors and help us see what there is to see.
