Connected Learning: How It Should Work

This one lets me connect three very different voices together and reflect upon the nature of Connected Learning.

The Three Learning Paths: The Beginning of an #etmooc Journey

I was really excited to get started with the first week of content in #etmooc. My hope is that this video fits pretty nicely into the Pedagogy side of “Connected Learning — Tools, Processes & Pedagogy”

It may challenge you to think about which of the three learning paths you are taking in both your professional development environment and the environment for your learners. Or, if none of these resonate with you, that it encourages you to construct your own learning path to follow.

#ETMOOC Is Overwhelming. So, Let’s Make Some Meaning.

I was quite engaged by Sheri Edwards comments on my previous vlog, so I thought I would extend it into a discussion of how we can “spin off” parts of the course conversation into passion projects. This isn’t the final word on how to create meaning in a MOOC, but it is what I would love to continue to discuss and collaborate on throughout the course.

Great discussion on top of that video that Sheri made (which does an even better job extending the idea): https://vialogues.com/vialogues/play/7216

Mutually Beneficial Friction: How We Stop Skimming The Surface Of Ideas

This post is a reaction to Rodd Lucier, the ETmooc community, a Remote Access blog post, and the concept of being an open spoke for collaboration. My hope is that it exemplifies how we can go deeply together rather than skimming the surface.

My ETMOOC Intro: Creating Great Things Through Collaboration

This is my introduction for #etmooc in which I use a whole bunch of public domain videos in order to illustrate what I am talking about (sometimes with better results than others).

I’m excited about this course and the people that I will meet and collaborate with as a result. I also wanted to make sure that I emphasize just how much I believe we owe the past for our understanding of teaching and learning. In our rush to create a connected MOOC community, I am interested in figuring out the human and timeless elements of education. The good, and not merely the new.

Also, hat tip to Alan Levine for giving me the idea of using public domain footage. Check out the ds106 course video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIJ-FsZ_K5g

What is your #DailyCreate?

I finally got around to exploring the ins and outs of DS106, a Digital Storytelling MOOC from The University of Mary Washington. It made me think that we are in desperate need of a #DailyCreate in all of learning environments.

We Are Called To Be Open Spokes in a Fidgital World

This video is a reaction to Rodd Lucier combined with an idea I had a couple of years ago. We should be open spokes on the wheel of learning, capable of connecting the core to the ground.

Change Comes From Open Conversations With Learners

I had the opportunity to ask my 6 year old about her learning this morning. I was not disappointed, and you too will not be if you have the same conversation with the learners in your care.

No Teacher Should Have To Learn Alone

I hope we create a community around everyone who feels alone in their teaching or learning.

We should surround their pain and support them as they heal.

We should do this because it is the thing that matters most when you are passionately trying to create.

This vlog is very personal in nature because of how vulnerable the original video I am responding to was.

Who Is Your Secondary Learning Audience?

As a response to both Tim Villegas and Kevin Honeycutt, this is where I think the conversation around managing our digital learning lives should go. I discuss why we should feel a sense of professional responsibility to curate our learning for others. We should always feel a responsibility to our primary learning audience, but it is the secondary audience that we should also consider.
