I may have gotten a little more vehement towards the end than I had intended, but I thank Darren Kuropatwa for helping me to think this through.

  1. I’m wondering as a teach a course with soon to be teachers, while I’m showing them where to get at some of the ideas, and discussions of thought, should they go deep now or is that what they do throughout their carreers as professional developing teachers?

  4. Man, that is a great question! I have struggled a bunch with how much of our knowledge is foundational and how much of it is supplemental (but, allows for specialization). I think that, for the most part, there are very few places/courses that teach a learner “how to go deep.”

You don’t have to do it for every concept, but showing the level of depth and empowerment that is possible allows them to do it on their own throughout their careers.

However, I would love to “see” what you are thinking about. Care to make a video describing what it looks like in your situation?
