# Social Networking for a Non-Profit

I was asked to give a presentation on Social Networking for Non-Profits and more specifically, facebook, and so here is my best shot at a number of resources that get at the core of this subject.

- The unavoidable [Common Craft](http://www.commoncraft.com/) video on Social Networks
- [A summary of a bit of research on Non-Profits using Social Networks.](http://rohitbhargava.typepad.com/weblog/2009/05/inside-the-non-profit-social-networking-survey.html) ([Direct Link to Research](http://nonprofitsocialnetworksurvey.com/download.php))
- The few documents that make the most sense for this topic:

- [Facebook Pages for Non-Profits](http://www.facebook.com/advertising/FB_Pages_Communities_NonProfits.pdf?quickling%5Bversion%5D=163044%3B0&nctr%5Bid%5D=b3feff78bff264da2996eb02f53ef0ae&nctr%5Bct%5D=1242092683308)
- [Facebook for Non-Profit Beginners](http://blog.techsoup.org/node/27)
- [Facebook Pages for Viral Marketing](http://www.scribd.com/doc/8718197/Facebook-Pages-Insiders-Guide?autodown=pdf)

- [Determining your Organization’s Social Networking Needs](http://www.techsoup.org/learningcenter/internet/page8054.cfm)

- Important resources and blogs for Nonprofits and social media:

- [Beth Kantor’s Blog](http://beth.typepad.com/)
- [Tech Soup – The Technology Place for NonProfits](http://nonprofitsocialnetworksurvey.com/download.php)
- Using Social Networks to Create Social Change Presentation: [Using Social Networks for Social Change: Facebook, MySpace and More](http://www.slideshare.net/rootwork/using-social-networks-for-social-change-facebook-myspace-and-more-presentation?type=presentation) View more [presentations](http://www.slideshare.net/) from [Ivan Boothe](http://www.slideshare.net/rootwork). I will be updating this list over the next day or so, but let me know if there are any glaring omissions.
